There are two types of bean-communication:
- reading the bean, aka ‘bean to the rest of the world’ method;
- teaching the bean, including the ‘screen to bean’ and ‘bean to bean’ methods. For the latter one you obviously need two beans.
At any time you can control the bean by ‘clicking’ the belly of it.

How to read the bean?

Morse code experts can start to read out the hidden message by double-clicking () the bean’s belly. The bean will tell its inside message in Morse code.

Even if you are unfamiliar with Morse code you might want to know the message. Please visit our Beanary which will help you to translate the code. You can decode the bean with the
help of a webcam by clicking long twice ().

How to teach the bean?
In order to teach a new message or poem to the bean you have to use the bean’s photosensor, called the ‘lightreading eye’.
Screen-to-bean
You can teach your bean in our Beanary. First type in the message or poem in the encoding machine and press the big red button. Then position your bean in front of the screen so that its ‘lightreading eye’ is exactly in front of the photosensor sign.
Click short-long () on the bean and immediately press OK. Hold your bean in front of the screen until the flashing light stops.
Your bean while learning will blink green. If the learning, by any mistake fails, it would blink red. When finished you can check your bean’s content by pushing its belly twice.

Bean-to-Bean - often referred to as ‘beans making love’
Amongst beans, when they want to share their experiences everything is beanalicous! One of them should be in ‘learning’ mode and the other one in ‘bean-teaching’ mode.
First set one bean to learning mode by clicking short-long () and then set the other bean to teaching mode by clicking long-short (
) on the bean’s belly.
